Well, things are slowly coming together in our preparation for the big trip.

We have made a few bookings, which is probably all we will do before we leave in exactly 26 days time, but who is counting.

We have booked:

• First 7 nights in a motel off Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA, very close to the Hollywood / Western train stop on the Red Line
• Next 2 nights in a private double room in a youth hostel in San Luis Obisco on California's central coast, as we have now signed up as YHA members and we are keen to try them out
• Car from 2nd last day in Los Angeles, from 14 to 26 January, to be dropped off in Scottsdale, AZ
• Whole of May in a 1 bedroom apartment on Lower East Side, in Chinatown, in New York City, NY
• 1 week in August in an apartment in Edinburgh, Scotland during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival

That will do for now. We looked into hostels in Austin and apartment in New Orleans, but we decided not to book until later. We don't want to be too constrained with dates as that also takes off some of the flexibility.

Medical appointments completed, dentist and OPSM visited, direct debits on bills done and a lot of housekeeping. A few more clean up things to do in early January, but we are pretty much ready to go.

We will also fly up to Ballina for 2 nights over Christmas, to celebrate with Di's family

Jeremy will go to Sweden for a quick visit over Christmas, but will be back on the 2nd of January, a couple of days before we leave on the 8th of January. I bet he can't wait to move into our place...
