Sat 26 Jan - Scottsdale, AZ

Australia Day and we woke up to rain, rain, rain. First rain in Phoenix for 2013 and we continue to blame Oregon for the weather. Low visibility too, we can't even see the surrounding hills or the rumoured stunning sunrise.

Vineet's house is really well set up with our own space downstairs and bathroom. We are trying to remember to put things away and close doors to make things Hunter-proof. Hunter is just over 1.5 years old and so far has chewed at 3 remote controls. He also gets excited to see us and jumps up and down on the bed. So need to pay attention.

We say goodbye to our little hire car and find our way to Hertz to drop it off. The staff here are really nice and much better than our Hollywood experience. One of the Hertz guys even drives us to the local Starbucks to wait for Vineet.

Once Vineet arrives, we drive to Costco in the rain for some serious bulk shopping.

At Costco, there are food samples everywhere, this stand offered pizza.
The Australian wine contingent here, but who are these two dubious characters loitering in the background...?
We then drive back to Vineet's for some lunch, then a wander off to the local stripmall for some gourmet food purchases, with Hunter in tow.
Here are Di and Hunter...
Some more pictures of Hunter...
Today is Australia Day, but given the dismal weather, we celebrated at Vineet's place with some Aussie decorations and Australian Open in tennis on TV (women's final).

Vineet's friend Carrie brought her dog to mind overnight, called Raylan, and what is he? Also an Aussie - at least half Kelpie. So all us Aussies, and 1 German Pointer, celebrated together. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi!
Here we are, on the couch with Raylan.
Home cooked Australian dinner (a la Di) Indian prawn curry with rice and accompaniments. Delicious.
Lazy evening, relaxing with red wine and chatting. Nice.
